This quote has stuck with me throughout my years being involved in theatre. I remember getting assigned my 1st monologue, and when doing research on the piece, I found videos of other actresses performing their version of it. I faced the dilemma that I’ve seen other artists, and I have had to face when it comes to reviving a piece or character.

My first theatre teacher then told me this quote, and it brought a different light into how I view art now. You are what makes a character interesting. You decide how they interact with the world and with other people. Everyone will have a different vision because no one else can be you.

If you are true to yourself, your work will be like nothing anyone has ever seen before.
